Sideboard plans with Tormod's Crypt
- Sligh vs. Reanimator and Full English Breakfast. Tormod's Crypt, in about two in five sideboards but not in evans' 15, is the usual extra card against both: exile their graveyard in response to Reanimate or Exhume, or after a Hermit Druid activation.
- Goblins vs. Dromar Control and Replenish. Against Replenish, in: both Tormod's Crypt, two Tranquil Domain and two Red Elemental Blast; out: three Gempalm Incinerator, Goblin Sharpshooter and both Naturalize. Exile their graveyard with Tormod's Crypt in response to Replenish, and counter Intuition or Frantic Search with the Blasts.
- Goblins vs. Reanimator and Full English Breakfast. Against both, in: both Tormod's Crypt; out: Goblin Tinkerer and a Siege-Gang Commander. Tormod's Crypt is in almost every Goblins sideboard: exile their graveyard in response to Reanimate, Exhume or Animate Dead, or after a Hermit Druid activation.
- Goblins vs. MUD, Fluctuator and Turbo Lands. Against Fluctuator, in: both Naturalize and both Tormod's Crypt; out: Goblin Sharpshooter, two Gempalm Incinerator and a Siege-Gang Commander; Crypt exiles their graveyard in response to Songs of the Damned.
- Goblins vs. Mono-red lists. Neal Sacks' 15 from the ELD Open: a second Goblin Goon, two Anarchy, Mogg Salvage, two Overload, three Pyrokinesis, three Red Elemental Blast and three Tormod's Crypt; his main deck has Goblin Goon, Skirk Prospector and a second Goblin Tinkerer instead of the green cards.
- Enchantress vs. Graveyard decks and the Replenish mirror.
- Terrageddon vs. Psychatog, UG Madness and graveyard decks. Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast destroy Psychatog and counter Circular Logic, and Tormod's Crypt removes Wonder, which the Blasts cannot touch in the graveyard, or a Reanimator target.

- The Solution vs. Psychatog, Dromar Control, Gro-a-Tog and UG Madness. Against Psychatog also two Tormod's Crypt for two Lightning Bolt, which rarely kill a Tog that can grow in response: exile their graveyard in response to a pump or to Accumulated Knowledge.
- The Solution vs. Replenish and Fluctuator. Against both, in: all three Tormod's Crypt, both Seal of Cleansing, Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast; out: all four Lightning Bolt and the three Portent. Exile their graveyard with Tormod's Crypt in response to Replenish or to Songs of the Damned, and keep another Crypt for their next attempt.

Against Reanimator, in: all three Tormod's Crypt and both Phyrexian Furnace; out: three Lightning Bolt, which cannot target Akroma, and two Portent. Exile their graveyard with Tormod's Crypt in response to Reanimate, Exhume or Animate Dead, or after a Hermit Druid activation, and use Furnace on the one creature they want back. Against Clerics, in: both Pyroclasm and two Tormod's Crypt; out: both Miscalculation and two Portent. Against Contamination, in: both Seal of Cleansing and two Tormod's Crypt; out: both Miscalculation and two Portent.
- Dromar Control vs. Reanimator, Replenish, Full English Breakfast, Fluctuator and other graveyard decks. Tormod's Crypt costs no mana and exiles a player's whole graveyard at once; Phyrexian Furnace exiles one card at a time, or a chosen card when you sacrifice it, and then draws a card.
- Aluren vs. Reanimator, Full English Breakfast and Psychatog. Three Tormod's Crypt exile their graveyard in response to Reanimate or Exhume, after a Hermit Druid activation, or before Psychatog grows.
- White Weenie vs. Enchantress and Replenish. Against Enchantress, in: both Aura of Silence, Scour, a Tormod's Crypt and the second Enlightened Tutor; out: Worship, Cursed Scroll, Glorious Anthem and two Tithe, which do little against a lock that prevents your damage.
