Timmerian Fiends

Creature — Horror · Homelands

Mana cost {1}{B}{B}. Power/toughness 1/1.

Remove this card from your deck before playing if you're not playing for ante.
{B}{B}{B}, Sacrifice this creature: The owner of target artifact may ante the top card of their library. If that player doesn't, exchange ownership of that artifact and Timmerian Fiends. Put the artifact card into your graveyard and Timmerian Fiends from anywhere into that player's graveyard. This change in ownership is permanent.

Timmerian Fiends (Premodern, Homelands)

Timmerian Fiends is banned in Premodern and may not be played in sanctioned Premodern tournaments. Shown in its old-frame Homelands printing.

Why it is banned: Trades itself for an opponent's artifact, for keeps, unless they ante.

The Format

What is Premodern?

Premodern is a Magic: The Gathering format played with cards from Fourth Edition through Scourge (1995–2003), the game's golden era. It captures the feel of early competitive Magic: iconic old-border cards, meaningful decisions and a rich, interactive metagame, free of the power creep of later sets.

1995 — 2003

How it plays

Premodern is an eternal, non-rotating format. Games reward tight play, deckbuilding skill and knowledge of the metagame rather than raw speed. Combo, control, aggro and midrange all have a home, from Goblins and Stiflenought to Landstill, Replenish and The Rock.
