Mana cost {1}{R}{R}{R}. Power/toughness 3/3.

Remove this card from your deck before playing if you're not playing for ante.
{T}, Sacrifice this creature: Target opponent may pay 10 life. If that player doesn't, they reveal a card at random from their hand. Exchange ownership of the revealed card and Tempest Efreet. Put the revealed card into your hand and Tempest Efreet from anywhere into that player's graveyard. This change in ownership is permanent.

Tempest Efreet (Premodern, Fourth Edition)

Tempest Efreet is banned in Premodern and may not be played in sanctioned Premodern tournaments. Shown in its old-frame Fourth Edition printing.

Why it is banned: Trades itself for a random card from the opponent's hand, for keeps, unless they pay 10 life.

The Format

What is Premodern?

Premodern is a Magic: The Gathering format played with cards from Fourth Edition through Scourge (1995–2003), the game's golden era. It captures the feel of early competitive Magic: iconic old-border cards, meaningful decisions and a rich, interactive metagame, free of the power creep of later sets.

1995 — 2003

How it plays

Premodern is an eternal, non-rotating format. Games reward tight play, deckbuilding skill and knowledge of the metagame rather than raw speed. Combo, control, aggro and midrange all have a home, from Goblins and Stiflenought to Landstill, Replenish and The Rock.
