Premodern archetypes that play Mox Diamond
- Terrageddon: Acceleration into a turn-two Terravore, mana in any color that survives Armageddon, and graveyard fuel through the discarded land. It is still a spell: Daze and Mana Leak can counter it, and casting it breaks Standstill.
- Oath of Druids: Costs no mana but a land card from your hand, so a land and a spare land become a turn-one Oath or Sphere, and the discarded land grows Terravore. In nearly nine of ten lists, on the Reserved List and by far the most expensive card in the deck.
- Gro-a-Tog: In a third of the lists: discard a land to put it onto the battlefield, and it taps for any color. Quirion Dryad on turn one, mana that survives Armageddon, and about half the price of the deck.
