Premodern archetypes that play Nantuko Vigilante
- Elves: In more than nine of ten main decks, one or two copies: cast it face down for {3} as a 2/2, then turn it face up for {1}{G} at any time to destroy target artifact or enchantment. Cast face up for {3}{G}, it destroys nothing. Turning it face up is not a spell, so counterspells cannot stop it, though Stifle can counter the trigger. It answers Solitary Confinement, Powder Keg, Stasis, Oath of Druids or Tangle Wire from the main deck, and Survival finds it.
Sideboard plans with Nantuko Vigilante
- Elves vs. Artifacts and enchantments: Enchantress, Replenish, Stasis, Oath of Druids, Aluren, MUD, Fluctuator, Turbo Lands and Stiflenought, and Engineered Plague or Humility. A second Nantuko Vigilante gives Survival another answer to find, and some lists add Uktabi Orangutan, which destroys an artifact when it enters.
