Premodern archetypes that play Wild Mongrel
- Terrageddon: The two-drop of the second build and of Michal Smutný's Czech Nationals list. Discard a card: it gets +1/+1 and becomes the color of your choice until end of turn. Spare lands become damage and Terravore power, a discarded Call of the Herd can still be cast with flashback, and turning black in response leaves Snuff Out without a legal target.
- UG Madness: A 2/2 for two that discards any card for +1/+1 and a color of your choice until end of turn, at instant speed and without mana. It pumps out of burn range, turns black in response to Snuff Out or Expunge, and lets you cast a discarded madness card in the opponent's turn.
