Premodern archetypes that play Wall of Roots
- Full English Breakfast (3x)
- The Rock: A 0/5 for two that makes {G} once each turn, even on the opponent's turn, by shrinking itself. That mana activates Pernicious Deed or Treetop Village at instant speed. Played in most lists from January to August, in about three in ten since September.
- Aluren: Its mana ability needs no tap, so it adds G the turn it enters, once per Wall. Recast in the loop, each copy is a new Wall, which makes unlimited green mana for Survival activations.
