Premodern archetypes that play Treetop Village
- Terrageddon (2x)
- Oath of Druids (4x)
- The Rock: A land that becomes a 3/3 Ape with trample until end of turn for {1}{G}. It dodges sorcery-speed removal and survives your own Pernicious Deed while it is not animated, so it is the threat left after the sweep. Every list since September plays it, about two thirds of them four copies.
- RG Zoo: A land that enters tapped and becomes a 3/3 Ape with trample for {1}{G} until end of turn. Animating it is not a spell, so Counterspell, Mana Leak and Standstill don't touch it, though Stifle can counter the activation, and while it is not animated it survives Wrath of God and Pernicious Deed. Wasteland and Armageddon destroy it, and while it is animated, creature removal such as Swords to Plowshares or Smother and an activated Pernicious Deed can too.
