Premodern archetypes that play Sulfuric Vortex
- Sligh: Three mana: 2 damage to each player in their upkeep, and no player can gain life. It is a clock against control and switches off the lifegain from Exalted Angel, Ravenous Baloth, Phantom Nishoba, Warmth, Spinning Darkness, Drain Life and the Spike Feeder and Soul Warden loops of Aluren, but it hits you too, so cast it when you are ahead in the race or when their lifegain would decide it. About two thirds of main decks play it, most often three copies.
