Premodern archetypes that play Psychatog
- Full English Breakfast: On the battlefield it is free, instant-speed discard that changes the top of your graveyard. As Shapeshifter's form after a Hermit activation it exiles two graveyard cards per +1/+1 pump, which is how the Hermit kill gets to 20 power.
- Psychatog: A 1/2 for three that blocks the format's X/1s early, and bigger creatures once you pump it, then turns your hand and graveyard into power at instant speed for no mana: +1/+1 for each card you discard and for every two cards you exile from your graveyard. Each pump is a separate activation, so the opponent can respond to every one of them.
- Gro-a-Tog: The second threat and the finisher: discard a card for +1/+1, exile two cards from your graveyard for +1/+1. Two or three copies, because Quirion Dryad does most of the early work; Psychatog takes over once the graveyard is full of cantrips.
