Premodern archetypes that play Volrath's Shapeshifter
- Full English Breakfast: The center of both combos. As long as the top card of your graveyard is a creature card, it takes everything from that card: name, mana cost, mana value, colors, types, power, toughness and abilities, plus its own {2}: Discard a card. Counters and pumps stay when the form changes, and a new form in response to removal can make it miss: Palinchron's mana value of 7 is too high for Smother, and Snuff Out can't target it as Psychatog, which is black, or as Akroma or Karmic Guide, which have protection from black.
