Premodern archetypes that play Life // Death
- Reanimator: In about four of five lists since September: Death returns a creature card from your own graveyard to the battlefield for two mana, and you lose life equal to its mana value, just as with Reanimate. It costs one more mana than Reanimate and only reaches your own graveyard, so it is simply one more reanimation spell. The Life half is almost never cast.
